Susanne retired from the US Army Reserve, having served as a photojournalist in Bosnia, Cuba, Panama and twice in Kuwait She also trained as a drill sergeant She is a former Peace Corps Volunteer, Thailand, and also worked in Israel and North Yorkshire, England She holds a English degree from the University of Minnesota and is the recipient of the 2015 McKnight Artist Fellowship in Creative Prose Her website is aspleywrites
