    3. I was lucky enough to have been chosen to be a beta reader for this lastest book in Ann Charles Deadwood series This is the best one yet If you haven t read this series, START NOW you will not regret it

    4. Oh yes, Violet is back and is up to the top of her purple boots in trouble again With everything swirling around her, Coop snarling at her heals and Doc at her side, this fast paced book takes to unexpected places Jump on and enjoy the ride because this is a fun, sexy ride Great job Ann Charles

    5. I love these characters and the way they interact I am already antsy for the next one I will not give any spoilers but we learn even about the things left hanging in the last book with the albinos and family and well relationships.

    6. This cozy mystery series set in Deadwood, SD has become my guilty pleasure read I see all the things that bug me about some series books a Mary Sue heroine, repetitive dialog situations, and ridiculous plots but I m still enjoying reading these in the most ridiculous way Don t start with this one, though If you don t already know what these books are about, I don t think it will make sense Warning This is the first book of the series to have no ending Not a cliffhanger, per se, but seriously no [...]

    7. Just when Violet thinks things have settled down for her, she stumbles upon another dead body that seems to have a connection to her young son, the local detective still thinks she is trouble, another detective shows up and doesn t seem to like her much, either, and to top off all the negative things happening to her, her ex shows up, he who fathered her children but then slept with her sister and waived any parental rights to the twins so he would have no responsibility It is a good thing she h [...]

    8. I m really enjoying the Deadwood series Violet is in the thick of it again The romance with Doc is hot, and Detective Cooper is starting to grow on me Headed to 6 now Can t wait

    9. I have absolutely loved this series since I first discovered the first book Nearly Departed In Deadwood a few years ago and I eagerly await each new one devouring it in too short a time because I can NEVER stop reading until I have finished it An Ex To Grind In Deadwood was no different I started reading it as soon as it was downloaded to my Kindle shortly after the book was released and away I went back to the wonderful town called Deadwood, South Dakota where we once again find our crazy and w [...]

    10. The Deadwood Mysteries by Ann Charles is a wickedly funny paranormal mystery romance series that takes place in Deadwood, South Dakota Meet Violet Spooky Parker, a sassy single mom real estate agent who is earning a reputation for selling haunted houses and finding dead bodies And, now her agency s boss is advertising that she ll show you a magic place that you ll love on an interstate billboard He also has her lined up to appear in a reality TV show featuring ghosts But, Vi has than her reputa [...]

    11. If a book starts with an apartment full of cuckoo clocks a decapitated body and a shrunken head or heads, well count me in for the read Reading this book was a lot of fun, and it was much better, than the previous one However, even in this installment Violet s parenting, real estate, and diplomatic skills left me wanting to give her a stern talk She has improved, but even now she spends a lot time on trying to unravel the mystery, than on trying to get traction in her real life, which has her a [...]

    12. Oh my molies I can t believe I am going to have to wait until the next instalment of the Deadwood mystery series to see what happens next This book, the fifth in the series, has it all mystery, hilarity, paranormal happenstances , spine tingling horror, romance, the characters we know and love and hate in some cases I m looking at you, Ray , as well as new fascinating characters, and, of course, the usual chaos that is the norm of Violet s life.Reading this book had me running the full gamut of [...]

    13. I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. This is book 5 in the Deadwood series, and a fantastic continuation of the previous books In my opinion, it is the best so far Violet is trying to stay out of trouble, but trouble always seems to come calling and literally this time A dead body turns up and Violet and the gang embark on another hilarious ghost adventure Of course, Detective Cooper is not too thrilled about her connection to another death and having his former partne [...]

    14. This was the first in the Deadwood series I ve read, and probably should have started at the beginning Having heard praise for Ann Charles and read her first book in the Dig Site Mystery series, which I enjoyed, this book was disappointing The constant inner dialogue in which Violet self obsesses about nearly every detail in her life, juxtaposed with the often tedious outer dialogue between characters, left me yearning for some nice descriptive paragraphs Too much detail bogged the story down, a [...]

    15. As much as I love the Deadwood series, this one didn t do it for me It s a filler book More day to day life, and in Violet s world that s crazy on its own, than anything else The best part of the book is probably the last 50 pages where things get interesting As soon as you settle in to find out , boom end of book Wha But, but, but Nope Sorry faithful reader Everybody gets a cliffhanger today including the characters I wrote this review before reading any other review of this book I m left wonde [...]

    16. Violet in Trouble, Mystery and Murder, Hilarious Dialogue and a Chicken named ElvisViolet in Trouble, Mystery and Murder, Hilarious Dialogue and a Chicken named ElvisThis is an extraordinarily well written and entertaining story This book is the best in the series They keep getting better and better I laughed out loud so many times during Violet s adventurous murder mystery and never knew what to expect or what was coming up next The new characters fit very well into the story and I especially l [...]

    17. There are very few Mystery writers that can make me laugh out loud, but Ann Charles has that knack I just love the characters in her books The interaction between the characters are just hilarious The first time I started to read an Ann Charles book which was Nearly Departed in Deadwood Book 1 when reading the first page I thought I don t think I m going to like this, an old man standing on his porch with a shotgun Well I was very much mistaken by the third page I was hooked I have read every bo [...]

    18. I enjoy this series very much Set in the small town of Deadwood, a town with many ghosts and haunted buildings, the main character, Violet Parker, is a realtor with Calamity Jane Realty Her clients sell or buy haunted houses at a rate of at least one per book I like the characters This is lightweight, escapist fiction, but is very engaging and good for distracting oneself from whatever real life may be throwing at you If you haven t read the earlier books, start with Nearly Departed in Deadwood. [...]

    19. Fantastic 5th Book in the Deadwood Series, you can t help but love Violet and all the trouble that finds her I like to write reviews but I like to keep them simple and not tell you the whole story in my review so here it is, would I tell my two best friends to read this book yes or no YES, I would most definitely tell them to read An Ex to Grind in Deadwood I read over 100 books in 2013, from Bikers, Military Ops and Serial Killers to Shifters, Vamps and Fairies I don t discriminate as long as t [...]

    20. Violet, Doc and friends are back Gotta love this crew, they are all like real friends, as the 5th book continues the saga Detective cooper is his normal grumpy self, harvey is still not staying at his place one big happy family.i am really looking forward to book 6 Just wish it didnt take so long to write.I highly recommend this book series if you like lovable characters, ghosts, ghouls and crazy antics You cant go wrong with this series of book You dont have to start with book one, but why not [...]

    21. I didn t realize how much I missed Violet Doc until I read this Violet and the whole gang are back making me laugh, and laugh, and laugh Of course, Violet Harvey find a another dead body, which makes Cooper oh so happy And as the title suggests, Violet s jerky ex makes an appearance So much going on and to come Ann, hurry up and write 6

    22. I had been waiting for the next book for the Deadwood series I am seriously invested in all the characters, especially Violet. This time around, mayhem and trouble that only seems to happen to Violet, that poor woman And yet I giggled through the whole thing Too funny and full of new mysteries and even puzzling questions.I love it.

    23. I didn t think this series could get any better, but I was wrong There is so much about this book that I loved The only thing that I didn t love was that it ended and now I ll have to wait for the next Deadwood book

    24. This was another good addition to a series I m really liking I enjoy being in Violet s crazy life and the Deadwood SD setting The supernatural world, ghosts, murder, mayhem, and laughs rolled up with a deliciously fun storyline.

    25. I really enjoyed this one I m not giving it a full 5 stars because of the ending I am SO over the abrupt cliffhanger ending that so many authors are using right now , but it is a strong 4.5 for me, probably the best book in the series so far Can t wait until Ann Charles releases the next one.

    26. AwesomeAwesomeso glad to be back in violet s world I love the stories that Ms Charles writes Witty and smart but unfortunately gobbled up in one sitting I cannot wait for the next chapter

    27. More of a cliff hanger than most I m looking forward to book 6 but I m thinking it s time to resolve some these story lines There is such a thing as dragging it out so much that people lose interest.

    28. This is the best of the series so far The ending bugged me because I wanted to know I really can t wait for the next book, but I guess I will have to.
