    1. I m professional Java tutor and Sun Certified Programmer I did not read Mr Jardin s book to get prepared for exam I just read it later when my students asked me for good quiz and asked me about my opinion of Mr Jardin s book So mostly students and people generaly are lazy they tend to find the list of questions and answers instead of studying the programming They do not want to spend the time for studying and expect the certificate to come like one two three That s wrong If you really want to be [...]

    2. This book was not even edited for accuracy Numerous typos, even on the example tests Extremely innaccurate summaries of even the primitive datatypes I will never trust a New Riders book again.Example Which answer best descibes the floowing object hierarchy class class1 class class2 extends class1 class class3 extends class3 Obviosly, class3 extends itself, which would give you a Cyclic class Inheritance error at compile time This same hierarchy is used several times throughout the Chapter three [...]

    3. I had lots of problems with this book, including 1 A test engine that is unusable on my system sluggish, pegged the CPU 2 Conceptual errors The one that comes immediately to mind is the book s insistance that interfaceof is a Java keyword and operator, both in the text and in the practice exams 3 Typos galore in the practice exams I suppose that it s good training to look skeptically at everything, but trying to debug exam questions 4 Practice programmer s exams that are IMO much simpler than th [...]

    4. I do not know how I happened to buy this book But this book did not give me even a tenth of my money s worth It has many errors and does not cover many areas in the Certification Examination Fortunately, I realized my folly in time, stopped reading this book, and got hold of some other books one by Barry Boone and the other by Simon Roberts and Philip Heller for preparing for the examination. It does not deserve even a 1 star rating But that is the minimum available for rating If you want to pass [...]

    5. I ll skip over the obvious problems that I found in this book, only a fraction of which are listed below, and simply let everyone know that I was forced to burn it It was rightly settling to know that I recovered at least some of the cost of this inexcusable monstrosity on my heating bill As far as the rest, if I ever meet Cary Jardin, I really look forward to introducing him to some full blown Australian rugby sometime

    6. I am an experienced programmer and in order to prepare for Java Certification I picked this book it was the only choice in a store at that time Here is my statement if you want to FAIL on the exam, BUY this book If you want to pass it, look somewhere else Bad style, numerous errors make studying very confusing and doesn t do one any good Steer clear from this pearl of wisdom

    7. Having read the other reviews of this book, it s possible that this one is not really needed In the first practice exam about 15% of the answers are incorrect The fact that Cary Jardin passed the Java Programmer and Developer exams with the knowledge demonstrated in this book devalues the qualifications in my view I recommend that you do not buy this book.

    8. This book is so poor I have been forced to take New Riders press off our recommended book sellers list It is obvious that it has never been looked at by a technical editor. What is even worse is that New Riders and Macmillan Computer Publishing have not issued any update or even errata for the text.Purchase the Boone or Roberts Heller text instead.
